This makes no sense. no other program in the country puts this kind of stipulation on their hiring process. At this point it seems our past is what is the problem. Because that seems to be what is driving these qualifiers.
Turner: "Sure, SO, you can go after a big name coach, pay him $2M/yr, we'll add the education school, relax restrictions, but there is just one thing: the coach can't have a past. He has to be a choir boy. Happy hunting!"

Exactly husker. Does anyone honestly think we are going to revert to that? it's ludicrous , and not the rapper!

And I'm not sure there's a potential coach out there right now that fits our wish list of qualifications. We're going to have to sacrifice one to get the other, and I think most of us are willing to allow someone with some past mistakes who will be a good coach rather than the opposite.

More than Georgia Tech our greatest nemesis in the coaching search has been SMU!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
Anyone worse than Barnett should NOT be an option. There are a few coaches out there that have a clean record who are as good or better, but they don't seem to want to take over this trainwreck. If we can't get one by Monday, it's time to bring in Barnett or Bowden.
What better way to redeem both a coach and a university? Match up two people with checkered pasts and let them prove to the world they have what it takes to succeed and do it cleanly.

They picked a dumb time to send out the Mustang Club renewals.

Worse than Barnett in terms of results or past transgressions?

I've posted it before but will post it again, Gerald J. Turner was the president at Ole Miss when the football program was cited by the NCAA for a lack of institutional control then a month later was hired by SMU. The sanctions at Ole Miss where the worst the NCAA handed down since the SMU Dealth Penalty. We sure looked over his questionable past when he was hired.

Turner's greatest enemy is Turner. If he doesn't trust himself, no wonder he can't trust anyone else.
