What about Karl Dorrell?

Any thoughts here?
Sounds like Duke is going to interview him.

You suck. We have a football program without a coaching staff and you would not take someone that UCLA hired? Tell me why?

Because he is not a proven winner as a head coach. Similar track record to Mike Shula, without the name.

Karl Dorrel did a horrible job at UCLA. He was grossly under qualified when he was first hired. He was a WR coach with the Broncos and before that was the OC at Washington and was fired by his good friend Rick Neuhisel.
He went through 4 offensive coordinators in 5 years at UCLA. His teams were wildly inconsistent, confused on the field, and rarely prepared to play. His play calling and game planning were pathetic at best. His ability to run a division one program was laughable. Case in point, to start the season, he had two Scholarship QBs on the roster, both of whom had never played more than 3 games in a row due to being injury prone. His 3rd QB was a walk on. After 4 games, both of his scholarship QBs get hurt again and he has to play the walk on against Notre Dame. He had 3 fumbles, 2 picks, and 5 completions. For the next game Dorrell moves a WR to QB and he proves to have the most talent at the position than any of the other 3. Also, one of the 3 was Ben Olsen, the former number one recruit in the nation. Would have been interesting to see him play for a coach like Tedford or Carroll.
He has zero personality and is boring. He is an average recruiter at best. The success that UCLA has had in recruiting this year and last year has been due in part to Dwayne Walker, the defensive coordinator. The success they had in recruiting before Dorrell was due in part to Eric Biennemy.
You can't just look at him and say, hey he had over a .500 record at UCLA, beat USC last year and went to 4 bowls....lets hire him at SMU.
