Though I can't get anybody to agree with me I like Bill Callahan a lot better than Dennis Francione or Chan Gailey for that matter. He must have had a good resume for Nebraska to hire him. Nebraska was just not ready for the west coast offense.

he too took the Lamborghini that was John Gruden's team in Oakland and ran it into the ditch that is the bottom of the NFL.

Oh my gosh!!! NO!!!!!!!!!

Here's some of the inside mess from Nebraska. It covers some info outside of what we're discussing but it provides a good overall picture of the debacle on the high plains.

So it really is fan-driven more than many, and overwhelmingly we want red pants on the road, the "N" on the helmet, and walkons and Blackshirts. Callahan took the blackshirt decal off the helmet, cut back walkons because there wasn't time to coach them (the kids knew that but just wanted to be part of the team even as a tackling dummy), and he and Steve Pedersen took all the photos of past All-Americans and Academic AAs off the walls in the hallways. Plus past players had to buy tickets and weren't welcome on the sidelines. After the fiasco Stevie P made of firing Solich (most thought he should go), his botched "search" and the Huston Nutt mess, lets say Callahan started off behind the 8-ball. Pedersen was pretty phony and although I was near him several times at wrestling events as volunteer timer/scorer he never spoke to me, nor did I ever see him without that stupid grin.

So whoever we hire expect no change in uniforms beyond a possible change in striping. The helmet will stay the same except the blackshirt decal will go back on, and the pants will be red for road games.

The fans are a huge factor up here as the sellout streak proves. Seats between the 40s cost ticket price plus $5,000 or so, the program is totally self-funded, no university support nor student fees, so when they yelled about no red pants and the colored gusset in the jersey, it went back to "normal" the next year.

I can't imagine he would be a candidate here. He is destroyed two programs.

He couldn't destroy ours, but for sure wouldn't turn it around!
