Outside interest should pick up...

early this week. I like most of the candidates mentioned interviewing for the SMU job this week in The Sporting News last Saturday. However, with the reported $2 million + annual salary offer made last week to PJ, don't be surprised to see some other coaches names surfacing this week after thinking about this opportunity over the week end.. The key for SMU now is to pick only a coach with a proven track record and is driven to WIN Championships......We can't sit around and say "I think" this guy will work or I think this guy "might work.".... The only way we KNOW SMU can SUCCEED if with a COACH with a PROVEN RECORD of WINNING.

Careful — the "sky is falling" crowd will jump all over you if you're too optimistic around here. :P

BTW - I would never want Joe (Grand) Pa.... maybe when he was younger... maybe... but I cannot forgive the "sympathy" vote.

We could just build him a tower on the field so he could sit and watch practice, like they did for Alabama's Bear Bryant !.... At least we could sell tickets !

Is Dave Smith still alive? We could always bring him back for an emeritus tour. He invented the wishbone, just ask him. I will now remove my tongue from by cheek.

That would be Emory Bellard.
