An NCAA recruiting dead period begins Monday and stretches into the New Year. During the dead period, no face-to-face contact is allowed between school officials and prospective athletes, and phone calls are limited to once a week.
"As I've stated ... we have a process, we have a plan, and that plan has a sense of urgency to it," Orsini said. "Knowing there's going to be a dead period, there's a little less urgency because no one is able to recruit."
Prediction: SMU will not announce its new head coach until AFTER New Year's Day 2008.

Posted: Mon Dec 10, 2007 10:37 pmIt's interesting that Bowden, Bower and Mason have not been contacted. Based upon Kragthorpe and PJ, SMU seems more interested in current coaches. Would O'Leary make a splash? He was rumored to go to Syracuse until they decided to stick with their current coach. What about Patterson?
