so the dead period lessens urgency huh? Really? Isn't our new coach going to need time to review film to identify players? Talk to high school coaches. Establish a staff. Make a recruiting plan.

You gotta be kidding me if the dead period means less urgency. By the way, don't recruits think about their options alot during the dead period? You need to have a coach at least hired to give them something to think about if they have even thought of SMU at all up to now. High School Senior: "Ya know Dad, I don't want to commit to Tulsa just yet, SMU just hired Rick Neuhisal and I'd like to maybe visit them and see whats up. "

I'm beginning to think Orsini may be in over his head. Something is definitely amiss. Perhaps it is Turner's hand in this. I don't know. But this really sucks.

...and once again there is another Dead Period on about January 10th for the Coaches Convention. 71% of the Area Top 100 committed-89% of the Texas Top 100 Committed. There will be several more prior to the Dead Period. Also miss the JUCO signing period.

We're SMU. Players come to us. We got all the talent we need. We just need a genius X and O man. Hell, the NCAA could put us on probation and cut 5 scholarships, it would have less impact than this coaching search.
