It is time to end the use of WOW!

There is a tremendous misuse of this word -- WOW -- when it comes to the SMU coaching search.
Remember, this got started because some slimy coaching rumor mill web site suckered a good number into the abyss by using that word because we were going to hire someone from a BCS conference and that it was going to send shockwaves through CUSA.
Nowhere has Steve Orsini said this. The problem is now that everyone thinks that when a name is connected to this job, we get all snooty saying "That's not a WOW to me" or "Boy, that would be a WOW.''
You hear a name and then you want to be instantly gratified.
That's not the way this works.
Is Bobby Petrino a WOW? Yes because of the way he left the Falcons, but Arkansas fans better be careful with what they just got.
Is Larry Fedora a WOW? Not really. But So. Miss hired him anyway.
Are Haywood or Pardee WOWS for Cougar High? Probably not but Haywood could eventually turn into one and Pardee is an a-hole for 95-21.
This is complete lazy thinking by the fans on this board.
It's a good thing the ADs at these schools are making this decision and not us. Our thinking about this changes just like the wind.

Orsini did say on national television that he would be hiring the "best coach in america".............................isn't that the same as saying it will be a WOW hire?

He also reaffirmed to Kevin Sherrington that he wants to return SMU to its glory years. The best available coach in america + getting SMU back to its glory years + top 25 = ....
That is a Wow to me. Call it what you like, but it has to be beyond wow!

Why don't we just land our plane on the deck of the aircraft carrier Good Ship Mustang right now and declare "VICTORY"!

there is no way in Hell some of us are going to let some Cheerleaders off the hook with the promises of a WOW! So what if Orsini didn't say it. Cheerleaders did. WOW! Other sage advice warned that SMU had not yet completed the foundation of a competitive football program that would first be necessary to get a WOW hire. Still work left undone or at the very least the work is not complete.

A+ Perhaps Orsini is waiting on Bush to come lead the football team while they build his library. After all if he can recruit people to Iraq and Afghanistan you'd think he can recruit to SMU.

I think you're on to something here! We can hire ANY politician to lead this team, that way, when we lose 84-0 to UNT, they can declare victory and we'll go undefeated.

Yeah, but saying it my way made it less likely that the thread would get dissapeared

He knows that word is out there and has said nothing to take it down a notch. He has pretty much endorsed it using different terminology. So many big names that have not even been contacted. (as far as we know) The length of time this is taking, the secrecy, all lead to the "WOW" conclusion. So without some kind of back step which has not been done, I guess "WOW" would still be in the mix.

Patton, i think it's a combination of the footballrumormill site saying that it would be a "wow" and Orsini's track record (o'leary, doh)...
