Solid coach if he's the one. His record at So Miss was outstanding, and he deserved a lot better from that university.

I agree, he is a good coach. Maybe all is not lost in this coaching search.

I'm a huge Bower fan, but what about the differences in recruiting from USM to SMU??? Many more restrictions here i would think.

I much prefer Bower over Bowden

With the success he had at USM, why did the fire him?

They say he had become stagnant, but they also had not given him the funds for better assistants or much of anything else

They did and so did I. He wouldn't be a bad choice. Proven winner.

It was a case of higher expectations every year (just like GT w/ Chan Gailey)...

Reminds me of my buddy Rich, a 9ers fan from up in Fresneck. He fully supported the firing of Mooch because he was tired of all those trips to the playoffs.

Bower's teams always hit hard, wrapped up, had good fundamentals. The worst I've seen them look was against Boise this year...but Boise does that to a lot of people. Games that stick out to me were the first time they played Tulane after Tulane's undefeated season...I remember thinking how much more physical So. Miss looked. And the TCU game when TCU was 10-0.
Bower's teams score when they should. 1st & goal from the one will be a TD. Bower's teams will tackle.

We could get Bower for alot less than 2 million and he is a solid coach. However, I do not think he would be a great recruiter in that S. Miss has never recruited that great.... I don't see him meeting the standards that Orsini has set all around.

They, as well as the other forecasters seem to have a new guy every day. I don't think they have any idea. Just tossing out names.

Football rumor mill in many instances just takes media articles from around the country and regurgitates them.
