Who are "available" coaches today?

And please, try to be ojective. Only those that are truly available. I'll start with the obvious ones:

Bowden, Barnett, Mason, Bower, Dorrell, Neuheisel (he's stated interest and been endorsed by his HC, I'd call that available). Who are the others? And which one is the best in America? My best from this list is Barnett, I think.

Not today but in the next few weeks, there are a number of NFL assistants and/or head coaches who may be available.
Russ Grimm, Marty Morningweig, Joe Bugel, Ray Rhodes, John Gruden, Norm Chow, Bob Bratkowski, Mike Martz, Kurt Schottenheimer, Jason Garrett, Jim Haslet, Cam Cameron, Dom Capers, Mike Mularkey, Jack Del Rio, Mike Shula, Dave Campo, Mike Tice, Kevin Gilbride, Terry Robiskie, Doug Williams, Mora, Jr. and others that I missed. Are there any WOW's on that list? I think there are.

Currently unemployed would also include such wishlist names as Jim Mora, Jimmie Johnson and Marty Schottenheimer, not that they are "available".

See I think "currently unemployed" means available.

Why do you think Jason Garrett is "available"?

As of today, that means a former coach interested in coaching and not currently doing it.

You guys compile the list but I am leaving in a few minutes to go see my newest grand baby. I am not taking my laptop so will be limited in obtaining information. Thus, I would prefer we wait until next week to name he coach so I will not miss anything. Thank you in advance for understanding.

No, not necessarily, but you wanted an objective definition and that is one. Plus I already included Neuheisel in another post as being available by virtue of his interest. Now can you choose the best available from those that fit this definition or can't you?

Neuheisel has a job. He is the OC of the Baltimore Ravens. Is he available?

See my edit above. Add to my definition anyone who has a job but nevertheless has expressed interest in the SMU job and been endorsed by his boss.

So if they haven't previously expressed interest in a position to a reporter, they aren't available?
