I know 7 weeks is a long time (ok, a very long time), but better to have no coach than a bad coach.

This period has seemed like forever, but not as long as four or five years of a bad coach losing 9-10 games a year.

If you hire a college coach, he's already got contacts and players he's been recruiting to his previous school. If you hire an NFL guy, he can say "I've coached in the NFL, and I know what it takes to get you there."
Sure, time is short, but it's possible. How many scholarships does SMU have to offer this year?

try talking to Pete Carroll...he didnt really succeed as an NFL head coach...but came back to the college ranks and look what hes doing.
so by that thought, a sucky NFL coach willl do for me...

Sure about that? Dave Wannstadt sucked as an NFL head coach, and he sucks as a college head coach. He's gotta have naked pictures of someone to have just gotten an extension at Pitt.

Go look it up. Wannstedt got that extension before Pitt played West Virginia.

Wouldn't one think that Orsini had a list of candidates in his desk drawer at any time prior to the season? Wouldn't an AD keep such a list for all sports should anything ever happen to a coach? The list would be updated often. I cannot believe that Orsini is unprepared, but he sure is making us pay attention to SMU football a lot longer than we would normally.
Hire a coach soon!!

More than zero. So our 'ships available will outnumber the recruits we have.

I think it was an Achilles Tendon and not a knee.
