I think Coker would be a significant hire for S.M.U. Won a national championship and played in another title game, both within the past 7 years. He's a better selection than Fran or Chan.

Coker won with Butch Davis' players. They steadily got worse as Coker's tenure continued.

Not saying he's a bad coach, but, personally, I think he's overrated. He's still good, just not as good as a lot of people think, in my humble opinion.

Were Bower, Fran and Coker the 3 that were interviewed?

i doubt turner would allow the guy that ran that hoodlum program at the U be at SMU.

They may have been Butch Davis' players but the point is that Coker took those players further than Davis was able to: he won a national championship with those players, which Davis never did.

What good is it to have all the talent in the world but not be able to do anything with it?

Interest in Coker makes sense. Remember where Ford's plane was after hauling Johnson around-Miami!!
