Joe Ethridge - Cotton Bowl Championship Team 1949

He played in SMU's first Cotton Bowl Championship game as the 10th ranked Mustangs defeated the 9th ranked Oregon Ducks 21-13 on January 1, 1949. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers. After a 1 year stint with the Packers, he returned to Texas and had a successful career teaching and coaching in the high school ranks. He was a "regular" at the annual Lettermen's Bar-B-Que (turned pastafest) at the start of each football season.
