Who is the last SMU FB or mens BB coach to hired away

I think it was Ron Meyer in 1980. We have gone 27 years without finding a coach that any other program wants.
That says it all about how pitiful our athletic department leadership has been.

New Mexico hired Dave Bliss.
And North Texas hired a coordinator (Dickey).

Some assistants have been picked up too (Turner Gill and Jeff Bower, for example)

SMU has been a coaching graveyard. Coaches come here to die. SMU Athletics: End or tarnish your career. I bet Phil Bennett wishes he never came here. Broken model, lack of total school support, poor alumni base, tarnished history, no uniform vision for the athletic program = losing.

I assume you are referring to that period since the DP. Hayden Fry hardly went to the coaches grave yard after leaving here.
