http://coachingcarousel.blogspot.com[/quote]...............I agree that someone is now leaking the names of Coker and Coach Fran. I also agree if they were his first choices, he could hire one today. So what this guy says makes some since.....I hope he is right and that Orsini can pull off a great hire.

That's the same thing I said in the thread "What's with the DMN?"

i would report some findings, but i'd rather make kate do some of the work. she needs to get out of the office and do some research. seriously, i dont think Moody us very well guarded over the holiday break. theres no harm in sitting outside, seeing who is going in and out

I fully expect Larry Coker or Fran to be our new coach. Sickening as that may be.

I am hoping that the guy we hire comes from totally off our radar. I am not excited about any of the names mentioned as serious candidates. And I also don't think anyone has a clue of who is going to be our coach. All just speculation.
I believe we need to hire a guy with head coaching experience and a very lop sided winning record regardless of division. This may have to be from the lower ranks because we are already at the bottom of DI -A. We can't get a successful coach at or above our level.
Bower
App. State Coach
Boise State Coach
I am sure there are plenty more that I don't have time to research. Little help here?

People that throw out the App. State coach haven't researched him at all.

I do not know if you mean people that mention him or people that blow him off, but I know Jerry Moore. He is a very fine gentleman and I would say he is one of the most pleasant individuals I have ever met. But I do not think he in any way would be the right fit for SMU at this stage of his life or career.

D-1 head coaching experience is overrated. So are "TEXAS TIES," for that matter.
Clawson at Richmond is a good, young, charismatic, energetic, program-building coach.
Matthews at JMU has a Nat'l Championship and is (although a tool), a good coach.
Hell, Murphy at Harvard is obviously good, although his accomplishments are not as impressive as Clawson's, IMO.
I agree on Jerry Moore, although he is old and would never come here.
Incidentally, Matthews is also close personal friends with the "Million Dollar Man" Ted Debiase, which is always a plus. I think they played together at SW Texas St. (how's that for "TEXAS TIES?")

KnuckleStang,
Do you think Debiase could take Hacksaw Jim Duggan? Just testing your loyalty.

I would take those guys if they have truly dominated their respective levels.

Duggan all the way. My SMU senior roommate and I used to scream at Debiase on TV. We couldn't stand that freaking guy.

Dwan- I guess you really keep close tabs on the posts to this board considering you referenced one of the few I've ever made.
Bob Bratkowski is still available. Obviously he's not the "name" people would like for the job, but I'll put his resume up against most of them.
It looks like everything leads to Fran at this point and we could definitely do a lot worse.
