Do we take Neuheisel if Bellotti goes to UCLA? Would be an interesting development. Neuheisel seems to be a more typical Orsini hire, if in fact he does hire someone before next season.

Wouldn't Nike kingpin Phil Knight exceed any money UCLA throws at Belotti?
If he leaves, it's about more than moolah.

I realize Neuheisel has the UCLA background but surely the fact that UCLA is seriously considering him has to make you 2nd guess SO.
Neuheisel has expressed interest in the job. IMO he should have been hired weeks ago.
Better than both Coker & Fran IMO.

This isn't going to happen, unless Phil Knight of Nike says its OK. UCLA doesn't have his kind of money.

Word is UCLA is considering Neuheisel only because some big-bucks alumni are putting HEAVY pressure (i.e. threatening to withhold their donations) on the AD out there because of their nostalgic memories of his playing days. Supposedly the AD is not a fan of Slick Rick, but is feeling the heat to give him serious consideration. He's probably praying Belotti wants the job.

Wish our well-healed alums were putting similar pressure on our Pres and AD.

They've ponied up $10 mill or so. I think that's a significant committment.

No issue with their committment. Their patience is exemplary.

Bellotti says no according to rumormill. I guess it's between Neuheisel and sister Golden hair. We'll see who wins that battle and maybe determines our fate.

Following UCLA over the last couple of weeks I can see why they have fallen so far behind USC. They seem to be stuck in the same rut as us on this coach search. They could apparently have Neuheisel if they wanted him so why are they waiting. I don't think they really want him but don't know what to do. Looks like they may choose their DC as HC. Meanwhile we seem to waiting on them to make our move.
Neuheisel vs Fran is shaping up.

If it comes down b/w Fran and Neuheisel its not even close who should get the job. Nueheisel.

Apologize if I missed this, but were there any reports that SMU ever interviewed or voiced interest in Neuheisel?
I know he said he may be interested a few weeks ago, but I wonder if he's been thrown into the category with Terry Bowden as potentially program changing coaches that we refuse to acknowledge....
This is so deflating...

Neuheisal would be fine-but his resume is not near as strong as some are suggesting on here. I notice the posters with a clue on this board have figured that out. Coach Fran has literrally built strong programs at about 6 different schools in his Coaching career. He easily fits the SMU job better than Neuheisal. But I can live with either.
