Hey again guys,
The news, our message board, your board... Holy. Crap. What is known so far FOR SURE? I don't read every post on your board, but I'm assuming some here-and-there fans of yours don't either, so I was hoping you guys could consolidate a couple of things for everybody.

1) Has anyone been confirmed to have interviewed on campus? If so, who?

2) Do we know anything about offers? Again, not what is rumored, but was there anything publicized or known? I've been working a lot and don't read the paper every day anymore.

3) Any certainty as to people on "a list" of guys (oops, that's not PC-or gals? Has there ever been a female college FB coach?) who may be approached?

Go DFW! (My new battle cry, heh. "Praise be to local economy" doesn't sound as sexy )

No body knows anything. See secret coach. Should give you an idea of who is the next SMU coach.

How should we know what's "known for sure"? Apparently there are some out there on this board who are in touch enough to assure us that anyone who has drawn a breath in the last month or two "can't possibly be interested" and then is nice enough to remind us of their superior intellect or something. But no, we don't know anything. Nobody here does. Nobody whose name is not Steve-O knows anything credible on this. Everything else that you see here is speculation, but apparently it's an express ticket to Hell if you disagree with anyone who has more than 2,000 posts, or some other ridiculous criteria.

This is not something to make light of. You will go to hell if you don't have at least 2,000 posts. I have been told that from a friend close to SO/search commitee. Also the DMN.

I always liked Tom Rossely myself. At least his teams were fun to watch.

I second the notion that no one knows anything really except Steve Orsini, the Search Committee, the Search Firm, and of course the agent for our targets. Go ask them. We don't know.

Here are the answers:

1) Paul Johnson. No one else confirmed.
2) Apparently, Orsini didn't even offer Johnson.
3) ESPN says Fran, Coker, and June Jones are on the short list...then again, I think ESPN is as clueless (or more clueless) as 99% of the posters on this board.

Take it easy on UNTJesse, you guys...he may have a UNT education, but he somehow escaped the brainwash that school inflicts upon their students which leads them to proclaim their superiority over SMU, UTexas, and the Ivy League schools.

SO seems to like coaches who did not play college football. There are only five D1-A coaches this past season that did not play in college and SO is/was interested in two of them:

Paul Johnson
Dennis Franchione

The other three:

Mike Leach
Charlie Weis
Mark Mangino

And some of you wonder why SMU has the perception of being "elitist." I swear I think some of you actually relish in that perception. I try my very best daily to be a good example for SMU and its alumni. Treat people with a little respect. Remember not everyone can afford to dish out 40K a year for 4 years to send their kids to school.

There will never be truce with UNT: this is known for sure. We don't want it; we don't need it. Even when we go 1-11 we still beat NTCC, so stop posting with your UNT name and get back to selling me mulch from the home depot. Sorry NTSU, its how it will always be with you ambitious mean green eagles.

and the SMUers wonder why nobody in Dallas likes them?
