Boosters

I think that one of the key elements of this whole search process should give us hope. While there are some on this board who are intimately acquainted with everything that is going on, and SO is also reasonably up to speed, this board has given little discussion to those who in many ways are the foundation upon which this whole process is built. The boosters who pledged the reprted $10-12 million.
I don't believe they would still be backing the search if there was not serious interest from someone they, and SO, believe is a top hire worthy of the big paycheck. If there is no interest from the big hitters for this job then they would pull the money, let SO hire some no-name for the kind of money PB was on and hope that it worked out (and hold the cash for when someone in the top tier of coaching does show interest).
If the money is still there, then there is at least one big-name coach willing to take the job. They haven't hired Fran or Coker yet so there must be someone else or the boosters would be telling SO to hire one of them.

It would be nice if that were the case but here's the problem. Now that coaches know we have a warchest built up around $10 MIL they are going to expect something similar to that figure.

Even with the announcement that we have big money to pay, we can still tell unworthy candidates to get over themselves and offer them less money. It's not like they can go to another school and demand big money. It is not the amount of money the school has to offer that dictates the amount a coach can demand, it is whether there is another school prepared to pay him big money to use as leverage.

SO is doing the "telling" - bet on it.

Possi, princess of the Polyannas - the simple fact is that Orsini has now set back the football program even further than it was the day Bennett was canned. There is simply no excuse for waiting this long - NO EXCUSE. He is apparently still scrounging for the largest scrap available that has fallen from the table and hocking at least the next 4 years of football while he does so. He looks like a fool to everybody but you and your pollyanna princess gang. tsk tsk
You and your pollyannas have a great track record of falling on your faces - don't you? Make sure you build your hopes up as high as possible, ok?

I can understand that not hiring a coach yet has put a serious damper on this season's recruiting. But four years? Please explain.

Let's see, we have no recruits this year. Say next year's team goes 0-12, and then we have an empty cupboard that year. That is the biggin' scenario. The other possible scenario, is that we have few recruits this year, we go 7-5 next year, and go to a bowl, and then have a great recruiting class. Our offense should be fine next year. Its our defense where we'll still be pretty empty.

Our defense could get worse next year, could it not? Then it wont matter how many TD's our superman QB throws.

Is there a more useless trio in the world than Stallion/biggin/bigdaddy? Seriously. The mods need to do something about these three jackasses.

You are Shemp.

The rationale is that a poor recruiting class affects a program for the 4 years of a recruiting classes' eligibility(or 5 if some players are redshirted). Recruiting. Learn It, Know It, Live it-no other AD in the country has similiarly handicapped his own team in recent-hell long time -memory to this extent.

Just like no other person has become as universally repulsive as you and your alter-ego biggin. See you and Orsini have something in common!

I think the comparisons of Stallion to Biggin and Bigdaddy are misplaced.

biggin has a different theme than Stallion. He's less sophisticated and probably hits on better looking women.
