Not only Nehiesel, but Singletary, Harbaugh, Sarkisian, Applewhite, etc. Have ANY former SMU players gone into coaching?

I coach high school and am trying to get my break into college. Only HS for now though. Nothing bigtime. I know there are a couple of guys out there.....one in the NFL and one at a big time college.

No, Jerry Gray only coached at SMU......really cool guy. The special teams coordinator at SF is an SMU alum.

Bingo on Peveto. Speaking of Sarkisian (sp) I went to USC's practice on Friday and watched him quite a bit. Very impressive just as he was when he racked up 40 something on us in '96. After seeing him at practice, I kind of wish SMU would think about pursuing him but I know that won't happen.

Al Everest is a former SMU player on the San Francisco staff. George Warhop is a former SMU assistant also on that staff.

Both coached teams to Super Bowls. I have not checked it out, but they may be the only ones to have both played in Super Bowls as players and then been Head Coaches in the game. It should also be noted that SMU grad Lamar Hunt named it the "Super Bowl". Good SMU history! We do have a lot to be proud of.

I wonder if we could get Peveto back with our new coach.
