MOUNTAINEERS WAITING ON JONES?
Sources tell Football Rumor Mill that SMU may not be the only school with an interest in Hawaii Coach June Jones. It seems West Virginia has, at the very least, made preliminary contact through intermediaries to gauge Jones interest in coming to Morgantown. This comes as reports earlier today had WVU hiring a firm to aid in the search for a new coach. Stay tuned to Football Rumor Mill for more on this developing story…

JJ seems to be looking more toward things he really wants to do in life. I think he views life more as destiny so to speak. Don't know If he's coming to SMU or not? But the challenge of taking SMU back to big time football would seem to be more appealing to HIM, than taking over a program that is already a top ten school. Yes, he would have a better chance to win a National Championship at WVU. SMU maybe someday, however I think he would view bringing back SMU more to his personal take on life in general. SMU should be able to match or beat the WVU offer if SMU wants really wants him. I just hope this doesn't turn into another PJ thing. I don't think it will. SMU will probably meet any requests he asks for. I doubt WVU will make the same concessions. Hawaii is probably a bigger threat than WVU. From my gut feeling, he's the next SMU coach, along with any assistants he wants to bring.

Sounds like another PJ situation to me & has from the very beginning.
JJ says thanks but no thanks to SO & we move on to the next candidate.
SO unable to pull the trigger on hiring anyone better than himself announces that he is the new HC & AD for SMU. WOW !
I'm ready for a HC & some recruiting news. Time to get it done.

I'm not so sure about June. Did you see that Sugar Bowl pregame?
Talk about a bunch of selfish players. Brennan and the WRs especially.
I would be horrified if Jones took SMU to a BCS game and our players acted like that.

If Jones took SMU to a BCS game . . . I would care less how our players looked in the pregame show. Not everyone can be as smooth as Dan Freiburger.

Given that Hawaii looks totally outclassed right now.....it might be a while before another "mid-major" school gets into a BCS game..............
