Jerry Bennett Returns To East Texas; Takes HC Position in Linden Kildare
J.D. Russell has stepped down as Linden-Kildare’s athletic director and head football coach for a second time, and his replacement is a familiar face for many East Texans.
L-K’s school board approved the hiring of former Jefferson athletic director and head football coach Jerry Bennett, 57, who has been an assistant the past six years at Southern Methodist University. Bennett doesn’t officially take over at L-K until June 1.
Bennett has maintained a home in Jefferson, where he coached 19 years. The football field at Jefferson High School is named in Bennett’s honor last year. The Bulldogs posted a perfect 16-0 record and won the 3A state championship in 1986 under Bennett.
L-K Superintendent Clint Coyne served as an assistant coach under Bennett at Jefferson.

Good for Jerry. I hope the rest of former assistants can find jobs quickly. Good luck at L-K, Jerry.

Could we beat his offer and get him to be the next coach on the Hilltop?
Pleez no hate mail.
Go Mustangs. Man it would be sweet to have a coach.
My wife said I should call Mrydel, XTC and a few others and I would have my staff in place and so I could apply for the open job.
How About Craig James?

Keep the rumor going. I need the leverage to try and get a raise.

Put Arkpony in charge of compliance, and then feed him those martinis during recruiting season.

If you guys took over, tailgating just might become a pre-party instead of the party. I think we could all fit 10 or 11 Victory Celebrations into our schedules, couldn't we?

We have all those empty beachers on the east side that get very hot in the sun. You can fry burgers and steaks on them before and during the day games.
