Re: Exhibit A: 2007-8 Football Season
The main reason I wanted Hawaii to win last night was to get this BCS bs blown up. What is needed to blow up the BCS is another trip to Congress. Most schools, mainly state schools get a large part of their income from the Federal Gov. They need Congress to breakup this cartel. If the non BCS schools were to demand this system be dropped for a playoff system it will happen. This will make the field level. The BCS will try to stop it by pushing the bowl thing and will expand to try to stave off the breakup ie: Cotton Bowl. In the end, hopefully sooner rather than later the BCS will blow up. It will take pressure from Congress.
Cartels work for those in the cartel. Ask Putin, Chavez and the Gulf States.
For everyone else, we pay the freight, while they get the benefit$ Pony Up
Re: Exhibit A: 2007-8 Football Season
A playoff would eliminate all of the "what-if"s and "would-have"s and that is what was so fun about this, especially, and most college seasons. Playoffs take away all of the speculation and controversy and arguing and bitterness and the thought of what might-have-been. Isn't that what this great country is all about? Must there be a clear-cut #1? Exactly who would this benefit?
Re: Exhibit A: 2007-8 Football Season
I think the NFL and the NCAA BB tournement work quite well. Everyone gets a shot at the golden ring and a piece of the $ pie. If the D-1 schools in the BCS were sincere about the whole thing then split the $ up to all D-1 schools.
