With a new coach, uniforms and spirit for the next football season, it is time to get the SMU Band back to full strength!
What used to be "Ninety Nine Guys and a Gal", should be 100 again (women are welcome too). As they say, size matters.

I am not going to tell you again.
H2O Pony. This is happening. Haven't you noticed the size of the band is growing. Sir, Mr. Don Hopkins, sir, has not only grown the band from 58 to 83 in just 3 years, but has increased the talent level of the members. His biggest road block is the amount of scholarship money available to band students.
Ponyfans can help by joining the Diamond M Club at www.diamondmclub.org.
Just send 'da money.

"... Everything was bigger in the past."
And because it alway is - especially in SMU's case.
I really don't see why we couldn't return to "96 Guys & a Girl." either?
All male band!!! Why not???!!!
$%%$# it would be loud, classy & great!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

We could do it if we did away with the football team and added a women's knitting team or something.

Some Mustang Band nicknames from throughout the years:
-Jibbering Idiots (1930's)
-Pioneers of Pigskin Pizzazz
-Pride of Dallas (late 50's, probably some attempt to tie the school to the city)
-Hub of SMU Spirit
-Best Dressed Band in the Land (60's, when the band started with multiple uniforms
-96 Guys and a Doll
-96 Guys and Dolls (any 70's guys remember this?)

With apologies to all those traditionalists out there, I'd like to envision 192.
Not that that will ever happen.

Yeah, I see 96 as a good attainable goal for the next couple years, but then I think long-term 150ish would be awesome.
