Channel 5 news reporting that SMU contacts Gary Patterson?

Anyone else catch the 6pm news on channel 5? I'm still at the office and the wife called me and told me what I already knew, that SMU was after June Jones. But then she said that apparently the school has contacted Gary Patterson from TCU.

Did anyone else hear this rumor? It's kind of out of left field, if you ask me.

they'll match out of pride alone. Ain't happening. Plus he's got an extremely large buyout-numbers aren't coming to me now but it would make it easy for TCU to do better.

Don't get me wrong, I don't expect him to come here, nor do I want him hear. Just trying to confirm the rumor.

Although, if it DID make TCU have to up their ante with the guy, we should just make it a habit to call him after every football season to help drain their program of funds. Would love to see that.

See the phrase "the wife called and told me". No matter how bored I am, it would only make matters worse if I ignore my wife!

Maybe Patterson is ready for a raise and like everyone else wanting a raise "leaked" the story that SMU is pursuing him. :D

He reportedly turned down 2 Million from Minnesota. I found one source that said buyout was 1 Million-not as big as I thought. I'd rather have Fran quite frankly.

He will not be the coach @ SMU. I can guarantee that.

Did she buy you Season Tickets for next year?

I'm already going to have to suffer if we sign Fran. She's an Aggie and said a couple months ago "if A&M fires Fran, maybe he should come to SMU?" I will have to live for the next few years hearing "I told you so".

And Water Pony, she didn't actually purchase my SMU season tickets, but since the state of Texas says half of my [deleted] is hers if we get a divorce, then I guess she bought half of them. I can say that she has suffered through every SMU game with me in person since the day we got married 6 years ago. That alone is one reason to put up with the "I told you so" mantra.

My wife is getting fed up. She just said, "Let them play without a coach. They've been doing it for years." 8)

Was that a report from Newey? He's an idiot. He never has any first hand information. He's an honor graduate of the School of the Perpetually Clueless.

That would be like Oklahoma great Darrell Royal becoming the head coach at the University of Texas.
