He has until Saturday apparently.
EDIT: My wife actually found it. This search has gone on too long.

Jones' agent Leigh Steinberg has said to have had no talks of significance with Hawaii Athletics Director Herman Frazier regarding a new deal for Hawaii's all-time-winning head football coach.
Does this part not sit right with anyone else? Maybe this means that Jones told their AD that he has no intention of staying in Hawaii no matter what? I hope this is not Jones agent trying to stir up the fans to get more money/motivation to Hawaii to offer Jones a bigger contract.

I think BRStang owes his wife a nice gift.

As an agent Steinberg is going to stir up everyone involved. That is what good agents do. Of course he is going to try to get the most for his client. I think SMU will give him the most.

She already got it for Christmas - a nice, little, red German sports car with a big bow on it. I am also taking her with me to the BCS NC Game.

Sorry, normally I wouldn't mention this kind of thing. It was just kind of ironic that Diamond Girl said that when I just sprung for the largest surprise gift I've ever gotten for my wife. My future gifts, I'm afraid, will never live up. But at least I haven't had to lift a finger around the house or bathe the kids for about 2 weeks now.

If you think cars depreciate fast, wait and see how long that not lifting a finger thing lasts.

Hahaha! I think I might be able to ride it into the weekend. But you're right, I'm sensing the end.

Just screwing with you, BR. Pleasing a woman with a gift is not as easy as they make it seem, so my hat is off, sir.

surely this means its a done deal. please tell me SMU is not dumb enough to get publicly rejected a second time 4 weeks later? once is understandable, two public facings 4 weeks apart would be unforgivable. This deal better be done or it should have never been leaked. We know the mob boss can keep a secret. I refuse to believe that we will allow ourselves to be that humiliated.

Can we really believe this information since it didn't come from our new favorite, one-ton, Hawaiian reporter? I think not!
I wonder how much weight that guy gained in the Big Easy? That's funny, because at that size, nothing is easy!

The report from Hawaii came from the report on ESPN and the one in the Daily Campus that was posted on this board earlier today. There's nothing new in the report.
The amount of gamesmanship going on here is pretty high. ESPN could have easily gotten their information on the size of the offer from Lee Steinberg. He's likely trying to let everyone know what the price is for his coach. The info on the deadline from SMU comes from the student newspaper, but would seem logical given the short period of time we have to hire a coach before recruiting season is over. It's also a signal from SMU that they don't have all their eggs in Jones basket and are more than willing to go in another direction if he doesn't accept this offer or at least negotiate quickly.
Bottom line: we'll likely know about a coach by Tuesday of next week.

C'mon...no need to rush, is there? Everyone relax.
