Comments from UH Boards

Postby huskerpony » Thu Jan 03, 2008 4:15 am

Here are a few interesting comments from the UH board. Mainly speculation, but it looks like they believe we have made an offer and the Falcons are the NFL team, but the Falcons are just putting out feelers.

The news that McMakin and Morrison would come too sounds great to me!

Other threads have them already speculating on who their new coach will be. The fans don't sound too confident that he is staying.

They are all also calling for the head of their AD (although this has been going on for a while over there.)

Atlanta Falcons and JJ ________________________________________
Story I heard from a HI newsperson here in NO is that the Falcons are interested. Money of course won't be an issue as Petrino left $24M for 5 years to go to Arkansas and owner Art Blank is a billionaire as the founder of Home Depot. Also hearing that JJ wants Colt as part of a deal.

Also said the SMU angle has legs and McMackin and Morrison would also go. Morrison has ties to Texas? I did meet Morrison here with his wife and young child so he would need to think about future money for the youngster and we all know HI hasn't been paying.

Weaker RUMORS have the Ravens and Miami also interested.

Is Norm Chow an option for us? Rheinebold as DC?

Re: Uh-oh-- ESPN Is Now Reporting It ________________________________________
Now we know why JJ is disappearing for one week! Contemplating the offers with Steinberg! It must be Atlanta Falcons. Baltimore Sun mentions that Jason Garrett from Dallas, Josh McDaniels of New England, and Jim Caldwell of Indianapolis, are the leading candidates. Their teams have been contacted by the Ravens requesting authorization to interview. Bill Cowher and Marty Schottenheimer are also of interest. Not really interested in going the college route...relief for UH!!

Re: No flame intended.........

June Jones was approached by Washington State and said he would come if they would pay the price. I have a coach friend who is inside the Cougar Athletic Department and he told me that because the Cougs had to pay Bill Doba and staff 2.6 million in a buy out they could not meet Jones demand. He did say that June was going to bolt if the Cougs came up with the money. The point of the story is that Jones appears to want to leave and SMU might be plan B. I wish he would stay in Hawaii because he is good for the WAC. Sorry if he leaves. You guys had a very good season...........congrats.
