FYI - this guy is Jerry Maguire. Has been busy working on Ricky Williams' new deal with Parcells. Not sure where the 72 hour deadline rumor originated, but I want this guy to stop worrying about his outrageously impressive client list and focus on SMU's offer to June Jones!!!!!
For a brief rundown on the man himself:

Thanks for the insight. Glad that you can read so well to think I was suggesting he doesn't know what he's doing.

He's very good and knows how to manipulate the media, and general managers, to his client's best interests.
His most impressive ability, in my opinion, is his ability to gather and present information. He uses the information to put his client in the best possible light, not only against known historical standards, but also in terms of future projections. I'd not be surprised if the news leaks about JJ and SMU came from Steinberg's camp to put pressure on other folks to up any offer they may have to JJ.

He's going to get back at SMU for allowing that No. 1 draft choice from SMU in the NFL Draft to embarrass him and lose his girlfriend in that movie. He HATES SMU and we are DOOMED!!!!!!!!

He didn't do a very good acting job on his cameo appearance in Beverly Hills 90210.
BTW, it was the season Donna Martin was dating Joe the QB -- think their senior year in college. God help me, why do I know this?

Unfortunately, this has the feeling of SMU being played like a fiddle. I hate to say that, but June Jones should have been able to make up his mind pretty quickly. Steinberg is not going to want to let him just jump at the first offer.
If SMU has imposed a deadline, they should stick with it, because it takes away all the bargaining power for Steinberg. A deadline will prevent Steinberg from "shopping" that offer over the course of several weeks.

That depends on who you ask. Drew Rosenhaus claims Jerry Maguire was based on him.

Well, Steinberg likes to claim that Jerry Maguire is based on him but Director/Writer Cameron Crowe denies it.
I've got Cush-lash.
