I wouldn't normally admit to having listened to Newy Scruggs, but I happened to turn on the radio whilst he was discussing the SMU situation.

Newy said there are rumors that we are interested in Gary Patterson.

This is just for what it's worth. The guy is on the "TCU flagship station" I guess.

We could do worse, but he'd never move across town. Froggy High would raise whatever money needed to prevent that middle-finger salute from ever taking place.

Would they raise $2.2?

He may not be as great as Jones, but just to turn the tide locally would be incentive enough to give him more money IMO.

I don't remember the exact quote, but he said something like "I've heard that SMU is interested in Gary Patterson."

Gary is already receiving, in all, 1.7.

TCU would have no problem paying him more, and we wouldn't need to "raise" it - he's turned down 2+ MM offers within the past four years: he's not interested in the money, he's interested in the school.

And that's why he's at Texas Christian University.

As I mentioned yesterday, NO WAY Gary Patterson is coming to SMU.
