JJ couldn't have been to Kona until the wee hours of the morning (CST). So any negotiations going on today between SMU/JJ, UH/JJ, NFL/JJ couldn't have begun until a few hours ago.
His agent is also out of Newport Beach, so he is a couple hours behind too.
