SMU just went UP on Texas, 17-10

with about 8 minutes to play...GREAT game. Lance threw a strange pass that bounced off of Fields, Bobby Leach at the right place at the right time...79 yard TD for the Mustangs!! I wonder who Frank Broyles (ABC color) is pulling for? Super game....

I don't know but Broyles was waxing nostalgic about the days of Kyle Rote when the game began. Also knowledgeable enough to quote Dickerson's time in the "hundred yard dash" at (was it UIL then?) the state track meet in a year prior to the game. According to Broyles it was "right here in this stadium..."

Just one of those few who realizes there was fball at SMU before Ramon Flanagan showed up...not an acid flash, just a nice old VCR tape to keep me company on a cold wintery day. Beats the heck out of all this "coach" nonsense...

Mike Luck to the Texas 44, with 5:13 to go...SMU 17 UT 10...Breweer DEEP to Herkie Walls...incomplete, within a "breath of a touchdown", per Keith Jackson.

It would be nice to see CJ as a change of pace to put the nail in the coffin...

Where can one get DVDs of games from SMU's past?

In particular, if someone would capture and sell the following games:

1980 SMU at Texas
1980 SMU vs. BYU at Holiday Bowl
1981 Weren't we banned from TV that year due to probation???
1982 SMU at Houston
1982 SMU at Texas
1982 Arkansas at SMU
1983 Pitt vs. SMU at Cotton Bowl

I think there would be a core of supporters who would pay money to have them in our collection. Where could we get these and others??

I wasn't even in HS yet.

But a great year nonethless in 1982.

As for Texas, I think the Longhorns, who were led by QB Robert Brewer and RB Darrell Clark (?), went to the Sun Bowl to play North Carolina.

Brewer broke his thumb the week before practice and they had to use Rob Moerschell (you HPers know better than I do) and the Tar Heels won the game, 26-10.

And I didn't look any of that up. Straight from recollection.

You can buy them through Heritage Hall. Gerry York is your contact man.

Bob, the 82 SMU Houston game was in Texas Stadium. I don't think it was on TV, but it was a great game. Butch Lecroix for Houston made a shoe string tackle on ED late in the game as we were running out the clock to save an additional 50 yards on ED's rushing total for the day. I believe that would have put him over 200 yards for the game. I still maintain that tackle may have cost him the Heisman.

We did have a bowl in 1981, it was the Polyester Bowl. The next best thing to Cotton. We beat the Pigs for the SWC crown. I'll bet mrydel was there.

If Gerry cannot hook you up, I have copies of the 82 Texas game, the 82 Ark game and the Cotton Bowl.
