Maybe "wow" isn't all it's cracked up to be...

UVW loses Rich Rodriguez to Michigan, then hires Bill Stewart. Definitely not a "wow" pick. Major WV booster Ken Kendrick wastes no time in bashing the pick, calling it a "sad morning." They passed on everybody left out there, including Bowden and Fran. Is "wow" overrated or did WV make a big mistake?

Judging by the teams performance under Stewart last night the answer would be no. I also understand he is a good recruiter, which is a head coaches most important job, so again I would say no. This is one of those things that will take time to see if this was the right decision and there will always be those who would have liked to have seen a national search but sometimes the best candidate is in house. We did the same thing this past off-season at Texas State to mixed reviews by boosters and fans.

What's amazing about this photo is that the old phartz behind the two mascots appear totally oblivious to what's going on 5 feet in front of them.

Suppose we'll have wealthy boosters shooting their mouths off and publicly bashing SO's pick (e.g., Kendrick at WV) or will the fact that we've been a tad less than successful over the last few decades placate their disappointment, should our new coach not be a household name?
