Latest from Kate: No 72 hour deadline after all?

Mostly rehashes everything that's been said on here today (do I really even need to preface it with that?)

Anyway, the most intriguing line is a reference of a quote from Orsini, regarding 'ultimatums' given to candidates. The only ultimatum I can think of is the 72 hour deadline. Kate says Orsini claims he's issued no such edict, and that doing so is no way to conduct a "quality search."

Could JJ have told SO where to put his 72 hour timeframe, and that he'll decide when he decides?

has it been actually reported before that SMU has interviewed Dennis Franchione? I'm not sure I had seen that definiteness before.

I thought I read that Steve-O and Franochio "had talked."
Not sure if that constitutes a formal interview, of course.

I think the 72 hr. time frame was made. If things are being negotiated at this moment, details etc. then I'm sure it would be extended. I would assume the 72 hr. thing is kinda like, either we talk and get this done or no deal. Probably talking right now .

Hope you're right.

Anyone know if Steve-O happens to be in Hawaii at the moment?

Actually,
I think it was a pretty good story by Kate, and I've been tough on her lately. The fact that is really now on record that the job has been offered should get people's attention.

It's one thing to have this stuff floating on the internet. It's another to be in something that would be considered an official record.

The other notable from the story is we offered $1.7-$2 million. I think others were quoting $1.5-$1.7.

That's about right because we offered Neuheisel $1.8 and Johnson $2.2.

Orsini may have said something about putting ultimatums on deadlines but he also didn't say that he didn't tell Jones to not shop this offer against Hawaii. And he wouldn't have commented on that anyway.

Good work, Kate.

Where is the article with the $1.8MM and $2.2MM figures? Thanks.

That wasn't her reporting. That came from somewhere else.

I don't know about you guys, but if my agent is negotiating a deal for me and the offer is "1.7 to 2.0M," the end result better be 2M or I'm getting a new agent.
