Assuming with more $$ he would make some changes from his Hawaii staff.

per another thread, if Jones leaves he has already asked his staff to follow him. I am sure there will still be openings on his staff, but it would be interesting to see how many follow......that is if he accepts the job here.

More than one report I've seen said that if he leaves, McMakin and Morrison go with him (and might have mentioned McKnight.) I assume probably a couple of others too. Some of the position coaches are locals though, I believe.
EDIT: 2 at least played at UH (most are from Oregon)
June Jones Head Coach 8 New York State Regents College
George Lumpkin Associate Head Coach
Defensive Ends 34 Hawaiʻi (1972)
Dan Morrison Quarterbacks 8 UCLA (1971)
Dennis McKnight Offensive line 2 Drake (1981)
Rich Miano Secondary 8 Hawaiʻi (1987)
Ron Lee Wide receivers 9 Willamette (1967)
Cal Lee Linebackers 4 Willamette (1970)
Wes Suan Running backs 8 Linfield (1975)
Mel deLaura Strength coach 8 Portland State
Greg McMackin Defensive coordinator 2 Southern Oregon
By Committee Special teams - -
Jeff Reinebold Special teams
Defensive line 2 Indiana (1981)

I don't know how many of those guys Jones could get to leave. Lumpkin has been a fixture at Hawaii and I would expect he might be hired to replace Jones. Some on his staff are "Hawaii guys"
My guess would be that McMackin would be the key hire. He's got both college and pro experience and was pretty well thought of at TTech, wasn't he? I would think Jones will want guys who know Texas. Gotta hope part of SMU's offer is that Jones will have a big enough budget to hire a quality staff and be able to retain them

DMN reports; Greg McMackin is making the trip with June to Dallas. I have been looking at the Hawaii staff for the last two weeks, GM would be a great addition, I don't see the whole staff coming though.

Hopefully this means that McMackin plans on staying to hit the ground running on recruiting.

Villoria is probably a keeper from the old staff.

If it's Jones and for that matter, whoever is the coach, look for Eric Roark to get an interview. Remember, Erick was probably our best recruiter and snagged De'Von Bailey last year.
And Villoria is already going to stay. I think Orsini already made that public knowledge a while back.

It is my guess that McMackin is wanting to hear what recruiting restrictions are in place. This is the time for SMU to step up and level the field. Remember that he used to recruit against SMU and he knows our limitations.

Contrary to popular perception, the playing field is now, in fact, level.
Bennett got in whomever he wanted, and there will be no obstacles to Jones' success.
To borrow a few bars from Roosevelt, happy days are here again.

Contrary to this "office" reply, tell that to JC kids who want to transfer hours.

Lets not kid ourselves - the field is not level - but it is getting there fast. Coaching changes can help accelerate things and if ever there was time to do so.........

Look for more North Texas High Schools to go to the Run and Shoot now. Jones and especially Morrison will be a great asset to the High School coaches in this area.

So what exactly is the difference between the "spread" and the "run and shoot"?
