Just heard from a good source that the press conference will be on Monday.

Now it is a matter of figuring out who the coach is -- I'm thinking it has got to be Jones but I haven't been able to confirm. I'll report back when I hear something concrete.

Pretty sure it is a done deal -- Jones to SMU.

Really surprised he is going coming to coach the Pones.

At first glance, I don't think he is the right fit. Obviously, he is a fine football coach. Hope his coming to SMU means that the model is changing and the adminstration will allow some JUCOs and I-A transfers.

Can't say but it is pretty reliable. If you don't believe me that is fine.

It shouldn't be that hard to put together. He is coming to Dallas to 'interview' tomorrow -- really means just hammering out the final details. Formal annoucnement on Monday.

same with PJ too, and I have heard this all along this "search" you hear on this board, "good source tells me that (fill in the blank coach) will be announced at press conference monday as new head coach"

blah, blah, blah! once it happens, ok, great, congrats, you the first to call it, yada, yada. But coming on here and just making claims is getting old... not just you man, there are alot of big claims on this board that never materialize...part of the fun of a message board though!

Ok bud, I understand what your frustrations.

I'm pretty confident that Jones coming over isn't an interview. The deal has been struck according to what I am hearing, including that a formal announcement will be on Monday.

I don't care if people believe or if they don't. I'm just sharing what I think is coming from somebody very reliable.

I guess we will know for certain by the end of the business day on Monday if my source is accurrate. I wouldn't post it if I didn't think so.

What will be nice if this is true is that all throughout the BCS Championship there will be the little crawler at the bottom of your screen saying "SMU hires Jones as coach", and they will probably interview him during the game.

JumpShooter, I hope you are right, but every time I see that "press conf Monday" crap my next Monday sucks cause there is no damn press conf. but yes, by 5pm Monday we will know...

Mrydel, that would be BE-A-UTIFUL to see! and real nice exposure every 10 minutes to have SMU on national TV, even as a ticker(about the best we can hope for)!!
