Is there a deadline on transfers? Maybe since JJ is so well liked he can bring some key players with him.

If it is the 100 most wanted we will be making some progress.

He was referring to the "Top 100" list of Houston players. He called it a most wanted list. Everyone on this board kids about the dangerous UH Campus and the terrible town of Houston. It had nothing to do with the coaching hire. If you want to ridicule him for that go at it, but he was for once displaying a sense of humor which is rare for Bigdaddy192384872.

I actually took it as a dig on Jones for some of the players he recruited to Hawaii and their past brushes with the law. But I may have given bd549 too much credit.

OK, I get your point but I still see it otherwise. At least he did it without foul words.

mrydel.....i have always respected your opinion (except when it comes to the Longhorns) so how do you feel about June Jones possibly becoming the next SMU coach this weekend?

One of Hawaii's recruits is Katy QB Bo Levi Mitchell, who led his team to the 5A championship last month and who emerged as a very fine quarterback in his own right this season. I believe his TD to INT ratio this year was something like 30 to 4. He would be a great get for SMU.
Creating a recruiting pipeline into the best schools in Texas (such as Katy) would be a smart move. The kids there aren't just talented, they are proven winners. Winners know how to win and they keep winning when they get to college.
Katy isn't just coaching, either. Katy's RB Aundre Dean is a top tier RB recruit nationally, was a UCLA recruit who is waiting to hear from Neuheisel before re-confirming. That kid would be a mega-stud in C-USA, and would be academically qualified at SMU from day one, but we don't have a prayer to recruit him because SMU hasn't even tried to recruit at Katy.
JJ could turn that around lickety-split.

I was more in favor of Fran ( and I really do not like him) because I felt he could bring in his old staff and already had the Texas contacts. However, with the prospect of Jones being able to bring his staff, coupled with the DC who not only has good solid coaching credentials but also extremely good recruitng history, I am very happy if it happens. The other thing is that Jones is very aware of our recruiting restrictions, and I have to believe that if he comes he will at least believe that they have been lifted to a point that he can compete in our conference. Overall I would rate it a wow in my eyes, and a WOW if we get at leat the DC along with him.
