"SMU has scheduled a news conference for Monday."
Is that actually true? Perhaps just a formality? A few interesting, if contradictory, tidbits in here...meeting is supposedly Sunday am...

But as of last night Jones was having difficulty booking a reservation and was exploring different travel plans.
Now this doesn't make sense...We got transportation.....
Where's the purple hippo?

This goes to the fact that the flights from Hawaii are all packed. There is one free seat on HNL to LAX in First today on a Hawaiian flight. Coach is totally sold old except for one seat on Delta. Both would have to connect to AA and catch the red eyes to DFW.
SEA has a HA flight and a UA flight that has a few seats left only in 1st.
OAK has one flight with a seat in 1st on Aloha. Would then need to get to SFO for the red eye to DFW or spend the night.
PDX has seats in 1st on NW this evening. Good connections to DFW
SAN has seats in 1st and Coach on HA 16 but they would have to spend the night in San Diego
MSP has a seat in 1st on NW
SFO is sold out.
DEN is sold out.
SLC is sold out.
DFW is sold out.
IAH is sold out.
ATL is sold out.
PHX is sold out.
ORD is sold out.
LAS is sold out.
SNA is sold out.
So if you want to get a bunch of people in from Hawaii then you better charter a jet or send one to pick them up.

I understand it's Hawaii, but would we really make him do anything oither than a charter? Otherwise, he might really be pissed off by the time he gets to Big D with delays etc. and California from what I hear is getting hammered with terrible weather today. (If he had to make connections there)

I would say it is pretty sleazy if we told them to fly commercial. Isn't our main pitch that of better everything than Hawaii has done. Show them the money, and not just the paycheck. And I say "them" because the DC and head recruiter coming with Jones is just as exciting to me as Jones himself.

Isn't this the same reporter who said he booked his flight on Tuesday?
If the agent is coming too, I seriously doubt that he doesn't have access to a plane as well as we do. Maybe JJ just needs to get to the Mainland and then we're picking him up somewhere.

Most telling part of the article:
Steinberg will join Jones in Dallas.
Jones plans to wrap this up by Monday.
In order to do so, his agent has to be here to workout any last minute issues.
If you are UH, you don't want Jones in Dallas and especially not with his agent.

Might not mean a thing, but, it could be another good sign that LS will join JJ and GM.
