that of Fry's late 1960's surge. I see us getting competitive again, similar to the 1965 season when SMU went 4-5-1 with W's over Texas, a$m and a tie v. Purdue. 66 - 68 saw us go 19-13 with two 8-3 seasons and Bowl games in 66 & 68. In the late 60's, we beat Illinois, Auburn, NC State and Navy, not to mention multiple W's over Tech, a$m, Baylor, Rice and tcu. Football was FUN then...SMU was entertaining then and SMU was COMPETITIVE back in those Hayden Fry days.

I honestly feel like it is pre 1965 all over again. Cant' wait to get competitive again!! Go Mustangs!

That would be the goal: to be relevant again and compete nationally with the big boys! Fry and Levias. Great combo.

Is was also my time on campus: 1964-1968

My son's experience was 2001-05, not as good to say the least. The enthusiasm of the recent and current students has a long way to go. Perhaps it is not a surprise and justified (?), but the new coach needs to sell and expect them to be in the stands.

An aerial circuc back on the Hilltop with lots of points and lots of W's will begin to bring back the student population and drifted away SMU alums. If and when JJ accpets, besides Coach Gregg, this is a big moment for the football program, with Gregg's situation / vibe being much different. Make sure we have enough light bulbs / juice in the JumboTron!!
