If JJ accepts (as "the LAST HC job available"), doesn't that give SMU the shining spotlight of both national and statewide media (that is, and gets potential recruits' attention)?
Just a thought

If he does accept, it will be the
second to last HC job available...

Where do we rank in the standings for time to find a new coach?

If he accepts, we won't be the last HC position available, unless Hawaii signs a coach before we can sign June.

Sorry. The point was all the bitchers that complained we were the LAST HC JOB IN AMERICA!!! Crybabies.

PB would be a great hire at Hawaii-- he has the no sox look down, already.
And his greatest coaching success came at KState, which has about the same admission policies as UH...

I read yesterday that according to Hawaii law, UH must post the job opening for head football coach for a minimum of 10 days before they are allowed to hire a football coach. That will put them right up against signing day. They are hosed--well kind of, they don't really compete for recruits with anyone EXCEPT NOW WITH SMU! Think we'll get the 3 or 4 players off the island that can make grades?

This is not a done deal yet. Don't get too excited. I am in sales, and you don't celebrate until the check is in the bank.

True - I am still uneasy. Excited but uneasy.

Agreed. I keep having to tell myself not to get excited yet.
A friend of his leaked the resignation letter to the media for a reason.
UH doesn't have a copy yet.....
I don't know if that letter was leaked to the media so that it would show how much Jones loved UH but he needs to go or as a last ditch effort to get major changes done before he commits elsewhere.
Although I think UH's AD would have to leave in order for June to stay.

Jones has already been through a very tearful goodbye. I do not see him going back to Hawaii. Does not mean our deal is a sure thing, but I do not see him going back at least until all the changes he wants have been done, which would be years from now.

I dont know what you guys are thinking. If we could have a say in who should be UH's next coach - How about STALLION? This is our opportunity to put him on an ISLAND IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE!!! This idea isn't that evil since he can frolic in the ocean, teach the locals to line dance, and even drive home after a few too many with the entire crew of Lost acting as designated decoys.
