Time kills all deals. This deal with Jones will not happen. Too much time has passed and nothing has surfaced. He's going back to Hawaii.
Fran is on standby. When Jones goes back, Fran gets the call and we move on.
Sorry, folks. We're about to get played again.

Assistants don't have to be named until later. Petrino just announced his staff yesterday.

Source? As in is there one, or just conjecture?

What makes you think Fran would just "stand by" for us. He's got a sweet deal from aTm. At this point I don't see him lapping up JJ's leavings. I know a bunch of people have said he has been "begging for this job" for a couple months, but I think his ego is too big. As it should be.

Someone please tell me why ESPN is the first to report on it...ESPN is like a giant clearing house in that they gather all of their information from sources and send it to the masses. It's not very often that they solely develop and release their own, especially before a local publication reports first.
Kate seems to be extremely quiet as well. So who is the individual familiar with the source? Is it Kate leaking it out and waiting until it is 100% official so it can be reported in the DMN (Without the threat of it being false)?

Time kills all deals???
How much time has passed????
The guy's been in town for literally hours, and you're gonna start crying that it's taking too long??? What, did you expect them to greet him as he came off the plane and ask him to sign his contract right then???
No time has passed at all since the guy resigned his former post, again literally hours... Good lord we've become paranoid.

The longer a coach like Fran sits out, the tougher it will be to get another HC job. Look at Barnett and Bowden. They would give their right arm to get another HC job, but they have been out of the game too long.

No one's crying. No one's paranoid. If Steinberg got in Saturday, then he and the school could have hammered out major points.
As for Fran, he wants this job. Once you're out of the college game, it's very hard to get back in. See Gary Barnett. See Glen Mason.
I'm going with my gut. Could be wrong. But every time the clock ticks, that works against SMU.

Dammit man, step AWAY from the computer, take a deep breath, go for a walk, have a donut, something. It's been ONE DAY!
