Snags in the Process...

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, guys, but I have been told as of about 45 minutes ago, that something has come up and what looked to be a done deal for Jones, is no longer the case.
In fact, it might be less than 50-50 now. I've been told that SMU wants this thing put to bed one way or another by 8 p.m. tonight and they do have a standby candidate -- Coach Fran.
In all likelihood, there will be a press conference tomorrow afternoon to announce either Jones or Fran.
When I hear more, I'll let you know.
I know I'll be asked about source. Obviously, I can't give a name but it is from within the University community.

Why would that just have come up? Wouldn't that be a big part of early discussions? Can we bombard Turner & Orsini will emails to do whatever it takes to get this deal done?!?!?

Now who was it a month or so ago saying Turner has nothing to do with the problems at SMU?

I'm not positive but from what I'm gleening, he's concerned about some of the proposed changes to the 'model' - for a lack of better word - that what is being talked about might not be enough. He also is torn about leaving Hawaii as he really has feelings for the place.

Let me guess: Jones insisted on putting his LB coach in charge of recruiting Huntsville?

If we lose out on this coach, I am going to be sick. I don't understand why SMU never gets the happy ending to a story.

who is the point man for SMU on these negotiations? Do we have a 'closer' working for us and a mediator as his henchman? Or is just Steve O doing his best?

Hey, seriously...I'll chip in a couple of hundred a year !!
Come on, Steve-O; time is running out in the fourth quarter. We need a come-from-behind TD drive. You can do it !!!
