After the last two months, why would any of us think today would be easy?

I just talked with Leigh Steinberg - very briefly. He confirmed that he expected a decision tonight. He confirmed that there was a snag with June Jones' contract, but also confirmed that it's been "a tough day" trying to decide between SMU and Hawaii.

He said he spent 15 minutes on the phone with Hawaii's governor, who wanted to intervene.

All I can say is, hold on. He said he'll call me back.

How awesome is Kate right now. Seems to have LS on speed dial and he will actually call her back when he says he will.

I think SMU needs to hire Mike Schultz away from TCU to become the head coach.

If he can't decide, I'm thinking Fran's gonna get a call tonight.

June'll get a nice raise and a few other things he wanted and he's back to Hawaii before sunset.

Again, huge kudos to Kate on this one. The DMN generally dumps on us, but she's been really good at reporting this story and dealing in facts.
