Here's a mention of SMU by Bill Parcells from training camp this week:

Q: Are you glad they rookies are still saying they'd rather get the star than their paycheck?

PARCELLS: It's like a badge. The best advice I ever heard anybody ever give a rookie is, I hear an older brother, actually this player was from SMU that got the advice. His name was Byron Hunt, this is way back, his brother Sam Hunt was a real good linebacker at New England in the 1970's, I asked him, what did your brother tell you about coming to training camp? He said, "He told me that my number was 57 and that was my number. Your just 57, that's all the coaches think of you as is 57, until you make the team then you're Byron Hunt." That's the best advice I ever heard given to a rookie.

Not a bad practice. Until they produce, they're not the star they were in high school.
Jeez, I sound like Stallion.
