I love Martz. It's time for SMU to play a little hard ball of their own and fly in Martz on the Pony Express....

He fits the bill.......he has a heartbeat and head coaching experience at the highest of levels. Let's fill the position.
I just want to hire someone that is excited about SMU and really wants to be here.

I'd be completely supportive of Martz.
But I prefer Jones.

Not so sure that he is 100x better than JJ, but bringing him in would turn the tables. We can play just as hard as we can be played.
I stick by my earlier suggestion. Prepare proposals for five prospective coaches (JJ, Fran, Coker, Martz and Gailey), email the proposals simulatenously and tell each that the first to accept gets the job. No negotiation, no BS. Take it or leave it NOW.

Didnt Martz say he was out of the search, 3-4 days ago?

So was June Jones according to his own statements in December.

Martz is done as an NFL head coach, but I think he would be a more than intriguing hire. I see him like a Pete Carroll. Seriously, there can't be a soul out there who was like -yeah, wow, USC did an amazing job hiring that Carroll washout.
Hehe.
And that turned out pretty okay, huh?

Besides Pete Carroll, how many other times has the "pro coach to college coach" experiment worked?

Two night and day personalities. Carroll obviously loves college kids, creates a fun environment, and they love him for it.
I think "fun" is the last word that could possibly come to mind when describing Mike Martz. He is considered one of the bigger @$$holes in the NFL. I don't see how that personality works on a college campus, especially in a turnaround situation.
