My problem with june jones comming would be is Vic Viloria out? June's strength coach at hawaii has been with him for 9 years and they were former college football buddies.
In this business, when a new head comes in, even the strength coach gets fired! I know vic knows the business, but still, Im sure he is the best man for the job.

I'm not an SMU fan or hater, just an interested observer. I must admit, watching this board the last two days has been pure gold. Hopefully, you guys can channel this enthusiasm into ticket purchases.
Sounds like you got yourself a new coach. Will be fun to watch the SMU v. Texas Tech games...though they could last 5 hours
Good luck with JJ, and Congrats!!!

Doesnt matter that vic was hired by orsin.....If the head Football Coach wants his guy...then he will get his guy! Im sure that was also in the talks when they hired him. If June is going to be succesfull at this attempt, he is going to want people he trust and are loyal to him....if that is the case im affraid Vic will be out

I bet Vic stays no matter who the new coach is.

I think someone posted a few months back that even if a new coach wanted to bring in their own strength coach, then SO would have Vic be the strength coach for all of the other sports. In other words, he still will have a job here in a worst case scenario, but just not for the football team.

Its the new coach's decision as to who he wants for every assistant coaching decision. UCLA wanted Jones to keep their DC on board and that was apparently a deal killer. If Vic impresses Jones, he stays, if not, those are the breaks in this business.

Can't tell you why but if I was a betting man I would put money on Vic being here.

my knowledge is he may not have anytime to impress june. When June steps on campus im sure all his assistance will be with him to start...and that means his strength coach! and i dont see this guy comming in as an assistant making an assistant salary! I would Say vic is out this guy will get the director job with a bigger pay..
but hope im wrong..Vic IS more qualified for the job at SMU
