Hawaii media = bad media

So far we have a blog in which the reporter is ASSUMING that through some conversations with friends and the fact calls to Jones/Steinberg aren't being returned, then that's cause to write June Jones is going to SMU.

That's irresponsible reporting and some people should have their press credentials stripped. Journalism today has become more about getting it first and then worrying about the facts later.

In essence, get it first before you get it right.

That's why Kate/DMN are doing this the right way. Detailed checking and checking before they go with something. Otherwise, they consider it conjecture.

You should too.

Katie Hippopatumus is probably still doing her morning wallow and does not yet know the current status of the search.

Apparently Steinberg has quit taking her phone calls too.

None of our local t.v. stations have any new information, either. The only channel who reported something about this last night was Fox - Mike Doocy.

That's a completely uncalled-for shot at Kate, Lawgrad. Maybe if you had been paying attention you would see that Kate was working late into the night on this, and has been doing so many nights during this frustrating search. You don't know how many hours she has spent working the phones only to get stonewalled. Comments like yours make me embarrassed to be an SMU fan.

And yes, Hawaii does have awful journalism. There are TWO newspapers in Hawaii, the Advertiser and the Star-Bulletin. I don't know which one is better, but I do remember from our WAC days that this Stephen Tsai character will print anything - anything - if it will get a rise out of people. They play fast and loose with sources out there. He may be right this time, but there have been many, many times he has published mere rumor. Truth is not a requirement in Paradise.
