Baylor fans board

Postby PonyFan » Mon Aug 04, 2003 11:31 am

Someone borrowed my handle and visited the Baylor equivilent to this site (BaylorFans.com). He started a thread about the Burger Wars thread on this board, asking where the best burger in Waco is made.

It seems the general concensus (53 posts in 3 days?) is that the best burger is either at George's or something called "Vitok's" - I saw when we head to Waco for the Mustangs' big win, I think we should invade those two locations en masse and make them SMU hangouts for the night!

And according to the posts, those who fear Waco is a dry town can breathe easy. Beer seems to be very much available.

I hear that at George's, you can drink Big O's until they close down the place.

Never had a burger at Vitek's, but the special there is the Gut Pack. It's a big frito pie type of concoction that is worth the trip. The urban legend I've heard is that you can request the beef brisket to be replaced with horse meat - and that it's really good.

Best burger in Waco is at George's. Some like Fuddrucker's, too, but that's a chain. For a local spot, hit George's. I'll try to get there after the game to meet some more (victorious) PonyFans!s

There's a little confusion going on here.

Vitek's and Kitok's are two very different places.

As the previous poster mentioned, Vitek's is famous for the gutpack, a concoction of sliced BBQ, sausage, fritos, cheese, etc.

The problem is that Vitek's is only open on weekdays, not Saturdays so you're out of luck there.

Kitok's is the burger place that a lot of the posters have been mentioning. Get the Liplocker and a side of Oriental Fries.

The only problem with Kitok's is finding it. It's not near the campus or stadium. The best way to get to it is to go past campus on I-35 South, take the 17th-18th St. exit and go right (west) on 17th St. (it's a one-way street) You'll pass through downtown and cross Waco Drive (Hwy. 84). Eventually, 17th St. merges with 18th St and becomes a two way street. Kitok's is a small place that will be on the right.
