PC announcement may or may not be public. Usually they are issued to a select media list via email/fax. Best bet is call the AD office.

Jones takes SMU job

Hawaii football coach June Jones told the Star-Bulletin this morning he is leaving his job at UH to become coach at SMU.

"Well it was a hard, hard decision," Jones said in a phone interview this morning. "It was very emotional for me, but it's a very good opportunity and I have to do what's right for my family."

Jones will be paid $2 million per year for five years by SMU.

It will be officially announced at a news conference in Dallas today.

UH assistants Greg McMackin, Dan Morrison and Wes Suan will be joining Jones on the Mustangs staff.
