Give it a rest guys

Guys, give it a rest. They are doing a lot to promote attendance...the simple fact is that the product has not been so good.

EXAMPLE: 1990 - 2000 Mavericks... We'd leave Dallas at NW Highway at 7:15 and still park and make tip off. No one went to the games, the Mavs sucked and the tickets were free.

EXAMPLE: Current Cowboys... The only reason they are even full many times is because the season ticket holders, who can only skip out once every 10 years or so, HAVE to buy the damn things and then they give the seats away that they don't want to go to.

SMU has had a horrible Win-Loss record over the past 14 years, and when the product develops a bad reputation even the faithful, like myself, are discouraged. I have attended virtually EVERY home game since 1989, and quite a few away games, including last years in Hawaii.

You cannot expect current students and alumni to come "just because" when the team has been, quite frankly, pitiful for so long.

Even AGGIES shy away from 'lesser' games (i.e., Iowa State, Sam Houston) when their team is 6-6, and that is once every 6 years after being 8-3 most of the time!!

Now, try and give away some FREE tickets to the new J.Lo flick "GIGLI" and see how many people go...

When the product improves, as I have full faith that it will shortly, we will see increased attendance; from alumni, students, faculty, and non-SMU affiliated persons.

The Marketing Department seems to be laying the groundwork with new sponsors, new ideas, etc...for when the product improves. If it doesn't, those tie-ins will go away as well.

Keep the faith, Bennett is bringing us back from Death, which is what we have been living through for 14 years.
