Two things:

1) Why would anything be directed at him? Normally these things involve the coach and the school officials.

2) Even if it had, why is that a problem? As evidenced by Orsini in the conference, Steinberg, in his agent role, carried this whole thing while JJ was still coaching Hawaii...While you can attribute this to him being his agent, he still is a major reason why we have JJ.

If it was a coach/AD thing today, Steinberg didn't belong up there with the other three.
Nothing personal - I just equate Steinberg with Scott Boras, and didn't want to hear him babble about things he knows nothing about (read: anything other than money).

I don't know if most of you guys know, but June Jones was Steinberg's second client. They go back a long way.

If you have read any articles written in the past few days you would notice that Steinberg was our cheerleader. Obviously he is going to do what is best for June, but is was quite obvious that he was impressed with us and led June to us.

In the PC June said he was urged to at least check out the Hawaii job 9 years ago and he did the same this time around.

I know everyone is going to jump all over my back with "he's an agent", "he's going for the money", etc, etc.

One article I read talked about Steinberg and Jones being very close.

This was a win win for everyone. Steinberg helped pave the way.

Yes, Steinberg's a great guy. Not every agent is a Scott Boras. In fact, most of them are not.

My personal favorite part of the press conference was the "There's nowhere to go but up here --- and I'm good at that."

Love the enthusiam.

I got the same impression. I don't know that Jones would have even interviewed for the job if not for Steinberg. He certainly didn't hurt us any.
