Texas recruiting

really liked Jones in the presser. Like how he mentioned texas recruiting and hiring some assistants with experience here and how important that is. Some of you think i am anti-Doherty. I am not. but I am disappointed that he has not hired a stud local recruiter and did not make that a real priority out of the gate. If Jones hires a couple young recruiters like Oscar Giles who was here a few years ago, I am very hopeful he can turn this thing around in a big way.

I hope June considers Joe Sawyer from the last regime. Until last year, the DTs were always a strength of the team, and even last year they were well coached (just too young).

Joe was the best recruiter on that staff... by a mile. He'd be a great addition IMHO.

Anyone know the chances of some of the Texas recruits verbally commited to UH switching and coming to SMU?? Is this a common thing in these situations to follow a coach?

Much like what Orsini did to the athletic staff.....out with the old....in with the new. We need coaches who have been part of a winning college program.....and unfortunately Joe Sawyer has not. He is a good guy however.

Its certainly possible, but have a hard time hoping for that. We have taken enough from Hawaii today. I am sure JJ will handle the verbals given to Hawaii on his watch with the class and respect it deserves.

A reporter from one of the Hawaiian rags said that they spoke to a recruit, already, who is ready to follow June.

Other than Viloria everyone from Bennett's crew needs to go as far away as possible. NO NO NO NO NO. And as far as being a great recruiter who has he recruited that has been so great? Haywood is really the only DT who had anything close to D1 size, quickness and ability during Bennett's era. Bonds did well with what he had but he was all heart.

We have lost too long to truly feel sorry for anyone else.

Can we keep Eric Roark as our special teams coach though?
