Steve Orsini is a genius

I have been visiting this forum as a guest for a long time. The only reason I want to register today is to shout out "Steve, you are a genius!"

Think about that, few weeks ago how many of us think that hiring "the best available" is a joke? How many of us can ever imagine he can raise $10MM in a few weeks? How many of us think that "our candidate has a bowl game to coach" is just an excuse? How many of us, like the one sitting next to me (also SMU alum), never believe SMU can get a qualified coach?

Steve Orsini proves us, at least most of us, all wrong.

This past season is the first time I paid to come to the game. Unfortunately, the game I came to is the only game we won. I believe I would come to the game in the next season even I can't get a free ticket. Pony UP!!!

Excellent first post. Mine was pretty lame in comparison.

Oh yeah, my first post... brilliant huh? Back in preseason '03....

ThadFilms wrote:Bartel starts the season at QB no doubt. The Mark you are talking about is Mark Hodges (I believe). We also have (or had) Donnie Gilray. If anyone out there wants to let me know about what's going on with Gilray, I'd love to know. But regardless Bartel is our opening day QB. If Gilray is still here, then I have to think that both Meeks and Philips get redshirted. But if Gilray is not here... Bartel has to make great strides in the off season, maybe I'll change my mind, but I think Ricky Joe Meeks is the starter by season's end.

Also it would make for a great story, Ricky Joe Meeks the next great Mustang QB from Mount Vernon.

Nonetheless, Bartel has the tools. I would like nothing more then to see him sucseed.

One final note... this is my first post on PonyFans or any other board in a long time. I've found this board only a couple of days ago and have already had a good deal of fun reading the posts. I haven't posted anything on a bulletin board since you had to dial straight into them (over a decade ago when I was in junior high). So I'm a bit rusty. Glad to be a part of the fold. Thanks. And, uh, Ponies National Champions in 2008.

And, ehem, um, by National Champions in '08 [cough]. I, uh, meant this year, [cough] bowl game '09, of course!
